FUE or FUT Hair Transplant Techniques: Which to Choose First?

There are many aspects to consider when deciding which hair transplant technique to use; some examples maybe not wanting a linear scar, money, hair style, no obvious signs of surgery etc to name a few. Another aspect to consider, more from a technical side, is your starting donor density. FUE lends itself better to smaller sessions certainly, who wants a strip scar for 1000 or so grafts?!

That said when the numbers start to reach 2500 required grafts there can be an argument for both techniques to be considered. 2500 grafts is not an excessively large procedure with FUE, Dr. Chris Bisanga has been performing up to 3000 FUE cases for some years with well documented results; but the starting donor density does play a part. Obviously with FUE the skin surface area remains the same but the hair density decreases because of the FU removed, and this will obviously reduce the amount of grafts able to be extracted at a later date if/when your hair loss progresses.

If you have around 75 and above density then FUE would work well as long as the extraction pattern is spread over the entire donor safe zone with an even distribution of extractions per cm2, and not concentrated around the back where the hair is generally thicker. If it is removed from the entire safe zone and with a good starting density it will not make a great impact on your overall density, so not impede greatly on future procedure, FUE or Strip.

If your density is slightly lower though there is an argument Strip maybe more viable; to remove 2500 FUE from an already lower density donor will leave it thinner again, maybe even expose areas depending on your hair character; so Strip maybe in this case a wiser option as effectively there will be no real density change, and future extraction can be used with either FUE or Strip again.

Hi dud,

welcome to this site and glad you could join us.

Multiplication is a controversial area of hair transplant and medicine in general, contrary to you we had heard that the clinic you mention had literally 1000's of happy patients but you do not hear of any on the conventional forums so it is very hard to say. You would assume if a "miracle" happened it would be "big news", rather than just a little gossip here and there.

From our point of view we feel the practice is a long way from being a realistic option for hair loss and hair transplant candidates and would not suggest it to you. Hopefully in the future we can say different.

thx for answer, even if the technique allows for some results
(some scientific theories) it is still too small in terms of effectiveness,
now ;)
