A Hair transplant is a minor surgical procedure that takes hair from the back and sides of the head (the donor area) and moves it to the area of hair loss, normally the top, or known as the recipient. The back and sides of the head on a balding scalp have hair loss repellent and this hair will continue to grow throughout the life of most men. Considered to be behind the advent of hair transplantation is a Dr. Okuda of Japan, he first described the use of transplanted hair to repair scarred eyelashes and eyebrows and later a Dr. Norman Orentreich published the first widely read report on hair transplantation surgery in 1959.
As a hair transplant relies on the movement of hair the donor supply was be able to sustain the need for hair over the area the candidate wishes to cover, this is not always possible and it is important the candidate discusses at length with doctors and becomes “Hair Educated” as to the pros and cons of this surgical procedure. In the past and even sometimes today patients who were not suitable candidates for hair transplant surgery have undergone the procedure and regretted the decision. The amount of research that is now available with the internet should be able to provide the knowledge required to make the correct decision. Sometimes that decision maybe to not have a hair transplant, but if so it is for the correct reasons and the person’s long term happiness; a “HT” is not a miracle sure, and to date there is not one, as the HT relies of the remaining hair sometimes the decision is to either have no HT or refine your goals to accomodate what is actually possible and will look natural.
From the early days hair transplant has moved on a great deal, more recently in the last ten years the “FUE” or Follicular Unit Extraction technique has become available.
Dr. Christian Bisanga, Medical Director of BHR Clinic in Brussels has devoted much of his medical career to hair transplant and one of the first to perform consistently the technique known as FUE. He has developed the FUE technique now to the highest level, has presented talks to International Hair Restoration Societies, trained other doctors to his exacting standards and is considered by many of his peers and patients alike to be at the forefront of the FUE technology worldwide, attracting patients from around the globe.
“FUE is the individual removal of follicular units, or simply put the removal of naturally growing small groups of hairs from what we term as the donor site of the person, the back and sides of the scalp. The procedure is so refined that most of the time I will utilise a punch tool no larger than 0.75mm in diameter to harvest the grafts” says Dr. Christian Bisanga.
Dr. Christian Bisanga have specialised in the FUE or “Follicular Unit Extraction” for almost 10 years, and has developed his own harvesting protocol “Educated Harvesting” so leaving no obvious signs a hair transplant has been performed allowing the person to keep your hair short and even shaved. He has a dedicated Medical Team that assists him to produce the most natural results possible, even at the closest inspection.
“FUE has revolutionised hair surgery, when performed to the highest standards there can be no visibly obvious scarring so no signs a hair transplant has taken place. This means, especially smaller hair line procedures, even eyebrow procedures can be performed with the minimum of fuss and change for the patient. I am thrilled to be able to develop this technique and move hair transplant procedures to a new level of excellence”
Dr. Bisanga says, “Proof is always in results and satisfied patients, independent hair loss forums such as
http://www.hairlossexperiences.com can be a great source of information for those wanting to get a balanced, open and honest view of what a hair transplant involves, and I will always recommend the person does as much research as possible. “
