I had my first HT procedure in 1994 at the Hunting Clinic in the UK. I was left with a 10cm scar on the back of my head and very little at the front to show for it. What I did have was ‘pluggy’ and of incorrect angle/direction.

My main reason for contacting BHR was to inquire about scar repair, however I was also curious about having some FUE work to improve the front of my thinning peak. I was sceptical about HT especially after my first procedure, however I was desperate to cover my scar as I was now cutting my cut my hair short and it was noticeable. Also hair transplant surgery has come a long way since the early 90s. I was intent on doing as much research as possible in order to find a good clinic. Hair loss forums will tell you of horror stories that still happen. It became apparent that the UK is poorly served with good, consistent surgeons and clinics, maybe because it’s quicker to make money on Nose and Boob jobs. Hair loss forums indicate that the USA or Europe is the best place to look. Bhr seemed to consistently have some happy clients posting good results.

After some emails and telephone calls I arranged to meet Stephen in November 2009. When I met him I was amazed at his hair. Whilst it is considered rude to stare, I just couldn’t keep my eyes off his head, there was no obvious sign of hair loss or surgery.

He was very knowledgeable on hair loss, surgical procedures, realistic results and the industry in general. There was no hard sell at all. The meeting was very relaxed and very informative. On the way home all I could think about was how good his hair looked. By now I knew that I wanted some frontal work done as well as the scar repaired.

I arranged to meet Stephen and Dr Bisanga in Brussels in December 2009. Again the meeting was informative and relaxed – no hard sell. Expectations and results were discussed and again I went away to consider what I wanted to do. Over the Christmas I made up my mind and arranged FUE surgery in January 2010.

The surgery went well, all the staff were friendly and professional; Stephen was there as well. He even escorted me back to the hotel after both days of surgery, as well as providing instructions and products for the aftercare.

The results are great. My head healed quickly, and the transplanted hairs began falling out after 2 weeks. I was amazed after only 4 weeks to see stubble in the recipient area. After 3 months the regrowth is amazing, hopefully it will continue to improve over the next few months. The scar is also much less noticeable.

I am very impressed with Bhr and the results that have been achieved. I am so glad that I decided to have the transplant, especially after the horror story of my first procedure in the UK. Later on this year after the full results show themselves I may well return to BHR and have some more Fue/Beard hair work done to the crown area and scar – good results are very addictive.

I would recommend BHR to anyone considering surgery. And for anyone in the UK who is considering having a HT procedure, I would strongly advise you to do your research fully and be prepared to travel. If you don’t do so, and thus, end up scared with a cheap botch job, then afterwards you will end up being prepared to travel to the ends of the earth and desperate to pay anything to get it put right.

I would also add that I have no affiliation with BHR, but I do wish to see the cowboys exposed and driven out of business.
